Llanboidy is a historical scenic village situated in the beautiful countryside of West Wales. Its origins can be traced back to the Iron age with the site of a timber built fort located in the village. It is served by a Welsh language primary school, St Brynbach Church, a post office and store.
The village as seen today was developed by W. R. H. Powell and he built the Market Hall in 1882 to enable the local community to sell their produce in a market setting. Cadw awarded the Hall Grade II Listed status to preserve its unique roof structure.

The Hall

Historical facts: The Hall roof is made up of complex timber and iron roof trusses. On the rear wall, pivoted pitch pine screens could be swung out to create individual market bays to enable the trades to display their goods and produce.

The Market Hall is run by a small group of voluntary Trustees and committee members.


Features

Hall comprises of a spacious main hall, hearing loop and in house audio sound system. Working raised stage to accommodate bands, choirs and dramas.

Broadband being installed. Radio microphones hand held and belt-pack. Manual Pull down 120”screen. Other media equipment currently being purchased to enhance the Hall’s capability for hosting variety of events e.g. parties, wedding reception, banquets and conferences. Easy loading access.

Fully fitted kitchen. Range cooker and dishwasher.

Round and oblong tables plus chairs.

Meeting/training room.

The hall is heated by electric wall mounted heaters. Electricity usage is charged per unit.
